The global market for eco-industries has been estimated at roughly €1.15 trillion. With new environmental regulations, increasing prices for traditional energy resources and changing market demands, this figure is set to double with the average estimate for 2020 being around €2 trillion a year.
In this context, Lancaster University – on behalf of the Envision Doctoral Training Partnership (DTP) consortium – contracted Arctik to organise a workshop and networking lunch on 9 July 2015 to help businesses to find out how research partnerships can help them better exploit this market. Envision brings together six of the UK’s top institutions for environmental research in a single consortium. Collectively, these institutions represent 500+ research staff and over £60 million of infrastructure investment over the last 10 years. It connects world leading UK researchers working on environmental challenges with industry and NGOs to ensure that the next generation of environmental scientists can meet the changing needs of business in the move towards a low carbon, sustainable and profitable economy. 50 participants, including practitioners in the environment, experts in different sectors such as energy, food, water and waste benefited a series of case study presentations, a panel debate and roundtable discussions.
In addition to organising and facilitating the event, Arctik designed the workshop, created and produced printed materials: i.e. workshop brochure, case study descriptions; and provided public relations support in targeting multipliers and businesses in the United Kingdom. In the final phase of the project, Arctik will realise a promotional video of Envision DTP. For more information: Envision DTP or contact the Knowledge Exchange Staff of the Lancaster University.
